The CapitalOne Bowl is one of the biggest competitions in all of college football, and an incredibly important day for one of the nation’s largest banks. To generate excitement and anticipation for the event, we created a tailgating competition between 16 of the country’s most recognizable college mascots. In a nationwide campaign, run on ESPN, fans nationwide were asked to vote for their favorite mascot. The winner was announced live on gameday, with the school receiving a donation from CapitalOne. The campaign resulted in tens of thousands of new email signups for one of CapitalOne’s most important consumer segments, and millions of engagements nationwide.
